About

The Little Marion Farm is a small sheep farm nestled in the countryside of historic Aquasco in southern Maryland. A 45-minute drive from DC, the farm feels a million miles from the hustle and bustle of city life.  Surrounded by neighboring farms and woodland, the farm is not only home to our flock of fine wool, merino sheep of all colors and their livestock guardian dog, but also two cows, several beehives and a bunch of chickens.  We collect our own rainwater for the animals drinking water and practice rotational grazing to not only promote healthy and sustainable forage production but also a reduced parasite load in our animals and a reduced impact on the environment. Our sheep roam the fields ‘au naturel’ i.e. they’re not coated because southern Maryland is way too hot and humid for that and their lovely locks would turn to felt. They thrive on a variety of grasses and clovers but also love the wild raspberry, blackberry and mulberry bushes that grow along the fence line. Our sheep are happy and healthy, and love a good chin scratch.

We produce beautifully soft, low micron count wool which we send to a local wool mill in Maryland to spin into springy, squish-worthy yarn which we then hand dye using high quality colorfast dyes. We also buy in a number of other yarn bases for variety and to keep up with demand. Our yarn is always non-super wash to capitalize on the best features of pure wool and to steer clear of harsh chemicals which either strip the outer scales of the fiber and/or adds polymer to the fiber. We dye our yarns in a range of wearable colors and employ a number of different dyeing techniques to achieve unique colorways.

We also produce other wool and felt products including wool fertilizer pellets for gardening, dryer balls and cat toys, and lanolin infused bath bombs using botanicals grown on the farm.

We invite you to take a look around the farm via our website and take a little piece of The Little Marion Farm away with you! Thank you for stopping by.
